Take A Stand.

By Eff BombsBy Eff Bombs
Time to take a stand, America. These abuses have been going on for far too long in this society, and other reasonable people have had enough. Whichever corporate idiots came up with these marketing ideas have a kick to the balls coming that’s long overdue. What abuses, you ask? Fruity-ass coffee drinks.

Avatar: The Last Airbender

Saturday, I was supposed to be out running errands. I was going to make a Target run and do some chores around the house. But honestly, I couldn't peel myself off the couch. Blame it on TiVo.

"Avatar: The Last Airbender," is a quirky cartoon I used to watch on Nickelodeon. One day, it just up and disappeared off air. But on Saturday, I found out Nick would air a two-hour season three finale, "Sozin's Comet," preceeded by an all day marathon on NToons.

Just like that, my day was planned. I grabbed some snacks and juice boxes and curled up on the couch to catch up with Ang, the star of the show and the world's one chance at restoring harmony among the four nations (they mirror the elements): earth, air, water and fire.

After about 57-episodes of Ang learning how to master or "bend" the elements, it was finally time for him to take down the evil Firelord and bring the four nations back together. But Ang struggles with what it means to bring down the Firelord, he has to figure out if killing him is necessary for a better world. I can't even pretend, I was completely glued to the television.

For a Nickelodeon animated movie, it was certainly engaging(click the pic for the review in the New York Times).

Are there any cartoons that you still watch?

Our Concepts of Beauty Can be Pretty Ugly

Ugly Betty is beautiful.Ugly Betty is beautiful.

Something I heard the other night stuck with me.

In a heart-breaking moment one of my favorite TV characters said, “I should have known when he said I was beautiful, he was talking about on the inside.”

Three seasons in, and I forget that “Ugly Betty” is supposed to be, well, ugly.
