So, I was reading Jezebel today and came across a very interesting story that ran in the New York Post (click the pic) on the pampered pregnancy.
In short, it's all about this indulgent trend among moms-to-be: manis, pedis, waxes, hair, all the fab stuff before the big delivery.
An excerpt reads:
The latest edition of "What To Expect When You're Expecting" by Heidi Murkoff includes a new section dedicated to pregnancy pampering.
"I think it is really important that women feel great the day of their delivery," says Murkoff. "It's a moment that you're going to catch forever. You're being photographed and videotaped and having tons of visitors, so you might as well look good."
Celebrities have made pregnancy so glam, that apparently everyday moms are getting into it. Now, I think you deserve to treat yourself while you're pregnant. I know if I ever experience the miracle of motherhood I'll still want to get massages and keep my hair done. But it won't be about pictures and visitors. And it's the last thing I could imagine thinking of the day I give birth. Some of this stuff sounds overboard and a little too media-influenced. What do you think about the pampered pregnancy?
