It takes a whole lot of awesome to keep J Space going, so every month we feature guest stars for you to meet and learn about. Our October guest is Eff Bombs, the blogger behind effbombs.com.

Take A Stand.

By Eff BombsBy Eff Bombs
Time to take a stand, America. These abuses have been going on for far too long in this society, and other reasonable people have had enough. Whichever corporate idiots came up with these marketing ideas have a kick to the balls coming that’s long overdue. What abuses, you ask? Fruity-ass coffee drinks.

Collette in Germany: Week Five

collette mccraycollette mccray
Hallo KC!

This is my final blog to you!

Last Tuesday’s trip to Switzerland was insightful. Very particular museums of design and painting interests we toured through. I was particularly interested in the Kunst Museum where we saw many Claude Monet and Picasso Painting as well as some more Van Gogh. The Max Bill exhibition was quite informative and I saw a lot of pieces that have been incorporated in the teachings from my own home college. We ventured through the FotoMuseum of Winterthur where there was an exquiste collection of photos from the War---the condition of these pieces were remarkable it truly captured the essence and emotion of that event. The trip to Winterthur was not only educational and inspirational but it was fun going with all the students – laughing and talking. One thing I did take away from Switzerland was the one thing that I absolutely adored was their CHOCOLATE! Omg it is the best absolutely amazing!

Tomorrow I set out for Italy. I fly into Venice and will spend several days in Rome! I can’t wait to begin my Spring Break journey! While in Venice I hope to see

Basillica di San marco, St Mary of Friars (Gloriosa dei Frari), Ducal Palace, Bridge of SighsSt. Marks Square (Piazza San Marco), Rialto Bridge, Gallerie dell Accademia, International Gallery of Modern Art, Vencie Opera house and Teatro la Fenice!!!---- just to name a few places! And in Rome I hope to see St. Peter's Basillica, Vatican Museums, Colosseum, Roman Ruins, Borghese Gallery, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps (Piazza di Spangna), Pantheon, Castel Sant Angelo, Musei Capitoloni Museums and Catacombs!! I’m so excited I can’t wait! 7 days spent in the Italian culture—who wouldn’t be excited. It will be such a good experience and break and I am grateful I get to experience it.

But I know after the trip is done I’ll be wrapping up the remainder of my classes with only a month and half left –it’ll be crunch time. But its time well worth spent! When I come back from Italy we (exchange students) have been personally invited by the Lord Mayor of Schwaebish Hall to join him and his esteemed for a lunch and medieval play reenactment- awesome! The it’s back to finishing up the semester with exhibitions, design conference at ZKM, famous art fair in Basel, and plays at the Globe Theater and on the Steps- what a way to leave this country.

In all----

I just want to say thank you to all of my family and friends for all the support and prayers during my stay here in Europe. You guys are truly incredible and have helped me get far in life. Thanks to Jenee for letting me blog on her space! Thanks to my mother who if it weren’t for her I wouldn’t be here to experience all this. For my professors and advisors in the states and over here that have given me such feedback and constructive/positive critism!

See you all in a few months!

Looking forward to a big coming-home celebration KC –hahaha.

Stay KC!

Our Concepts of Beauty Can be Pretty Ugly

Ugly Betty is beautiful.Ugly Betty is beautiful.

Something I heard the other night stuck with me.

In a heart-breaking moment one of my favorite TV characters said, “I should have known when he said I was beautiful, he was talking about on the inside.”

Three seasons in, and I forget that “Ugly Betty” is supposed to be, well, ugly.
